A very strong glue which would cause more damage when removing the shelf than hanging it with nails would :P
Most landlords say blahblah no nails or marks on the wall, no this, no that. If you have a half decent landlord, they won't mind that much. In all the places we've lived in I've always smacked nails and screws into the wall and when moving out either leave what was put up in place, or remove the screws, fill in the holes and pop a little bit of paint over it because in most instances of rented houses, the walls will be magnolia which a tester tub would probably be £1 or similar
how did you get into uni if u think nails can support a shelf
double check with your landlord, let them know you need extra storage space and would like some shelves up. Make sure you get him to email/send a letter detailing if he gives any instructions about it (you really don't want to get caught out if you're all particular about getting the right amount of deposits back).
So yeh, the best thing to do as, as everyone else has said, you won't get any other type of wall shelving.
Its fine now guys,
I'm going to look for like standing shelves like a skinny one like a dvd type rack
It just sucks not having my books and dvds on display
