I think I have 2 or 3 of mine and i'm 17.
I've had problems with them in the past and they have been a bit sore but they have their moments. I can go for months and months without any pain then i'll end up cutting my gum or something at the back of my mouth (where they are coming through) and then the tooth will start hurting for about a week. They are really really slow though ;/ I don't want to get them out - that looks so horrible.

Weirdly enough, this thread made me realise that my wisdom teeth were coming back though. Had toothache for just under a week now I believe.
All 4 of my wisdom tooth have started coming through at some point, I was getting pain with a couple of them and I understood if it continued I would need them out. None of them are fully though, my bottom ones have the gum around them yet they've not broken through at all, the bottom ones have, the one broken through before I believe it's my right hurt, but had enough room to grow as I don't have a tooth at the back apparently. However, this one now is hurting and it's my bottom left and feeling it, I don't think it has enough room to grow? It hasn't really broken through yet, and I'm sure it's my wisdom tooth, but time will tell :P.

My wisdom teeth came up mid to late last year and was hardly in pain, something though I notice I bite my skin at back of mouth now but hey ho.
I'm just glad to have an extra set of teeth, the more the merrier because you only ever get one set

According to my dentist, if they start coming through at 18 you'll have a "rapid" growth of them (ie, one might come all the way through in the space of a year, or quicker). But you turn 19 and they apparently slow right down?
Pain isn't always an indication, unless it's severe, if you keep getting gum infections around the wisdom teeth (like small inflammations all the time) then you may need them out. It's different with every person and if you're really worried just go get them checked out.

I have two of my top ones and got a good bit of pain from them. Now my bottom ones are growing in and they can both be extremely painful for me, one is popping out and the other is growing out at an angle it seems :( don't really wanna visit dentist here as I don't have an NI number and don't think I can really afford it. I think if I go home I can have it done for free though :)

I have one on my left side which pushed through when I was 16/17. It's actually really annoying because it grew out weirdly, thankfully not so that it effected my other teeth, but it grew so that there's like the PERFECT GAP for food to get caught in there, I spend half my life trying to dislodge bits from there. Eurgh. Nothing painful tho.
I'd go to the dentist and have them look at how its growing and see if it will cause any problems, I wish I had done so maybe they could have gotten it to grow at the right angle rather than how mine is :P

mine are growing through atm and having no problems! probably because i had to have 4 teeth taken out for my braces 2/3 years ago

One fully grown and three partly grown. They hurt a bit when they are pushing through but not enough to get them taken out. It's just like teething as a kid, unless it doesn't grow straight.
