We could wear whatever brand we wanted in Primary School as long as you had a white top and black shorts.
In High school we had to wear the schools sports uniform, or you'd be given detention.

I don't do PE anymore, but we needed to wear a navy blue polo shirt, which ideally needed the logo - a lot of us just bought them from school as they were pretty cheap. We also had special school shorts with the logo on, but in Winter we could wear our own tracksuit bottoms and we could always wear our own trainers too.
We were supposed to wear a blue polo top and navy shorts for PE bought from the school but no one ever bothered by the time it got to yr 10 or so.
We couldn't but as we got to our later years they weren't as fussed.
We always had to wear like black shorts/trousers and a white t-shirt but it was never forced that we had to go out and buy the uniform with the schools logo on it or anything like that. So we could get away with wearing variations of the uniform and be allowed to wear it.
In first - third year, no but as the years went on they got far more lenient on older users as long as the sportswear was suitable :P
