md5 is used for many many things... forum software etc. If you managed to hack a forum*, get an md5 hash and manage to find the plain text you could use it to gain access to the account. Or you can use this for other things, helping people etc.

*unsecure forum. Many forum systems, like vBulletin, now use salting, which works like this.

You're pass is password1 - it's then given a random salt, so it's @l0l1?:password - then it's encypted with md5 and stored, along with the salt.

Loads. Obviously for 1 and smaller numbers there won't be as many, but for others there will be a lot. Think of all combinations, eg:

1ooooh
1osjdjd
1jddjdx
j2939d
etc...

loads!

Memory Used 84.8 % - ram btw! Uh oh! :P

Might need to buy a server to continue this project!

I checked it on a bruteforcer, there is 830,000 just for the 3 character ones.

Also don't forget things like ?@: etc are included and the whole alphabet (upper case and lower)!

I think there's an option to disable sound for ie or ff, somewhere... not sure.

:D Thanks! Server load is dodgy, but it'll be fine. If it gets to 97% I'll shut off the a couple of auto things.

I'm improving the speed of the script atm.

Current server load: 75 % - Not too bad.

Server load went to 1.22 (4 cpus), it's usually just below one. :P Memory remains the same. :D

I left it on part way through last night, my laptop seemed like it was heating up bad with the fans cos it's been on for like 2 days, so i didn't want to risk burning em out so i just left it on battery power so that it was doing a bit :P
