I doubt there is even a rule on how far the Police can move you back. If its the matter of public safety, then I don't see an issue of "10 miles". But hey, they probably didn't even ask.

Yeah that will be why. I suppose they could shoot his hand, but I doubt they are allowed to.
Hmm possibly, he had food already so he could have been suspicious already... pffft I'm going to bed now, stupid Moat. Bet he'll be here tomorrow morning still.
From the story the BBC have been telling the picture is like this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8223982/moat.png
there is 1 set of beeb reporters on the street and one in the gardens of the houses the otherside.
Looks like 10 miles to me...
I agree with public safety and what you have wrote here, but what I was getting at was the apparent suggestion by the police (which Sky News reported) that the media move back to a 10 mile radius was absolute madness considering he's cornered by hundreds of marksmen and the media are already at a good distance away from the crime. I'm not complaining about the media not being allowed feet away from him, but when theres safety on one hand and an OTT reaction on the other.
The same goes for protests around Westminister palace, I feel very strongly and always will do about civil liberties.
Keep posting ladies and gentlemen, I am off to the land of nod. I hope they either hurry the **** up or I can keep watching tomorrow.
THERE IS NO 10 MILES THE BBC ARE AROUND 400 YARDS AWAY
There is a restriction of 10 miles but not on the ground. Which does not affect the media on the ground.
Solve what? all I did was to comment on report by Sky News which said the police had requested the media move back to a 10 mile radius, a few minutes after they said that nothing happened and still hasnt happened as Oli has said below, so theres nothing to solve.
*HYPOTHETICAL* Had there been a 10 mile radius I would call it a big overreaction on the part of the Police forces.
Nobody has said there is a 10 mile radius in operation.
I did not say they tried to impose it, had the police imposed it, they would have imposed it full stop. I reported what Sky News reported earlier on in the day which was that the police had requested/wanted a 10 mile radius around the area - I then gave my opinion on that assuming that was the case that the Police had asked them to move back, like Sky News had reported.
So no, I did not say the Police had tried to impose anything.
Totally got the wrong end of the stick here.
Another newspaper reference, yet again.
To add to that, who knows if it is false media? the Police could very well of requested the media to move back past a 10 mile radius and then gone back on it/the media groups may have consulted solicitors working for them to see if that was viable and it turns out it wasnt (as you have pointed out and as I have seen all night with my eyes whilst watching both Sky and BBC news who have remained in the same position all night).
I believe biased media has nothing or little to do with this topic anyway, so please dont drag the thread off-topic onto what is biased and what is not.
Yeah you did.
I heard the police wanted the media away from a ten mile radius - how disgraceful in a so called democracy. I find that very wrong indeed, but as usual if you give something or somebody power then they will use it even if it need not be used at all.
*REMOVED*
Anyway both you of ... well all three of you, stop arguing, you are managers - especially what you said to him Oli before you removed it - well at least you removed it I guess.
*REMOVED* You love moaning about whatever you can. You moaned that there wasn't enough cuts in the budget, then you moaned that they shouldn't have made cuts as £5bn doesn't matter. To me, its clear contradiction. Either you say there needs to be more cuts or you don't moan about the cuts they do saying they shouldn't have done it as £5bn doesn't affect anything. *REMOVED* and seem to just repeat what the Daily Mail says. I worry if the Daily Mail ever shuts down, you might commit suicide as you won't be able to fake your own opinions.

Why would the police even bother suggesting a 10 mile radius? It'd be impossible to enforce, Sky News clearly got it mixed up - it's the air radius that they wanted and if you think about it a 10 mile air radius makes a lot of sense.
Looking at the town on google maps a ten mile radius would pretty much mean that they'd be out of the town.
'I heard' being the important part. I never said the Police enforced or imposed anything, they merely suggested it according to Sky News earlier on in the night at the start of the siege.
Thank you, thats why I said it would be stupid and wrong to impose a 10-mile exclusion zone because it would be too big and would be an overreaction. It turns out that afterall we agree.Quote:

Gone off on one yet again Saurav and havent even bothered responding to that fact I never said the Police were imposing this, you all assumed it. On the cuts (being dragged off topic yet again) I havent complained about any cuts.
I was told you were over the age of 18 yet you have just posted saying I would commit suicide if the Mail closed down (a bad joke on your part?) - hardly even worth a response and only brings into question your age to my mind.
We can discuss cuts (I gladly would like to, it hasnt been discussed properly yet on here) back in the original thread and I am awaiting a response there at the moment, heres the link; http://www.habboxforum.com/showthrea...=654289&page=2
Neither did I and it was taken grossly out of context.Quote:

Well, not me since I'm a film and TV journalist, but news reporters are notorious when they're up close to the action and it's a very wise decision. This guy has a gun and is surrounded by about 50 guns. It's logic and after such a manhunt, it makes perfect sense for the police to handle this alone, without distractions. The media can pick up the pieces when he's dead.
I went off topic as you didnt reply to it in the previous thread (in regards to the £5bn) ... just used it as an example. No you said you heard the police wanted it ... kinda similar. Stop trying to make lame excuses now.
Yeah well you were generalising all university students saying all they do is get drunk and not save up and stuff - exactly what the Mail had said until me and Catzsy proved you wrong - so yeah you don't ever form your own opinions, the Mail does it for you.
I did reply yesterday at 6:15 pm, I am awaiting your own reply.

I did hear the Police said they wanted a 10 mile exclusion zone, MattGarner himself heard it on Sky News earlier on and has already commented on it. Not an excuse, both me and Matt heard it live on Sky News.
On topic: Shot heard.
Unconfirmed shot has been heard. Although nothing is confirmed and someone who was on the phone to the BBC at the time has mentioned they have not heard or seen any movement changes. But we shall see!
Ohhh drama. Just about to go to bed too.
They believe Moat has shot himself.
Ambulance went.
Stretcher has been lowered.
It seems he may of shot himself. Although we won't know yet. :(
ffs I wanna go sleep!!
bbc says it was 2 shots
& an ambulance just left with police escort
Tango tango we have a shot fired.
--
Susan says hes shot himself and police jumped on him.
--
Heading south with 2 police cars, confirmed sky news he has shot himself.
--
Police confirmed a shot has been fired on the suspected moat, I bet he will survive.
I am still amazed he walked into the town centre in broad daylight did he not? I always had the impression the guy was pretty intelligent and knew his stuff from being a hardend criminal. He has killed somebody though and I do believe in the death penalty, hopefully he will not walk out of this alive.
he has been shot - nothing to say who by
yeh he got shot by himself/police
Northumbria Police: Raoul Mout has a gunshot wound and is receiving treatment. No officers have been injured
From Sky.
I was betting on the fact he'd get captured, but at least shoot one officer. My predictions fail. :<
He is currently receiving treatment.
No one was fully aware of what he was going to do. We know that he declared war on that Police force and he was also a threat to the wider public. Although, the Police always thought he was still in the area and they were correct.
God, he looks like a normal person. I bet when he knew he was captured he was thinking what the **** have I done.
:/
