I agree that the iPad 2 is very unlikely to be 3D but I think it will have the Retina Display :).
I think when Firefox 4 is released it will boost ahead market wise. I also think that RockMelt will be released to the public by the end of the 2nd quarter.
1) You haven't made a productive post in years, take a look at your recent forum posts they're either:
- Spam
- Pointless
- Trolling
2) Your inability to spot a Hyperbole is laughable, obviously there will be some games/programs which will use multiple cores, generally video rendering programs, but most mainstream programs / games will not utilise multiple cores properly yet.
just to say i wasnt saying the ipad in 3D, i meant iphone, or it at least being capable of 3D with glasses or something lol. I cant actually see where else the iphone can go..?
You're wrong, admit it and everything will be much better. My posts are short, direct and useful. Yours are attempts at being all 3 and failing.
Also just fyi if you really want to carry on this ridiculous argument I will win. I know more than you and I'm more than happy to display it.
Rather a short lived victory for me I think. Not satisfying.
Time for predictions:
1) We'll see some sort of press release or something for the HD 7xxx series of AMD cards. (Yesssss)
2) Samsung will come out with more excellent products which I will consider buying.
3) The 2nd generation iPad will be released to much hype, sell well but all in all be somewhat of a flop in regards to actual technology people. Sure it'll get nice reviews and that but it'll still be like playing with lego blocks, something you grow out of eventually.
4) Glo-Fo will actually start doing stuff (Please?)
6970 not good enough for you bear? xD
They were a bit of a letdown to be honest.
7 Series should be a complete refresh with a die shrink. I predict that we'll see an announcement of some sort in Q3 2011.
Eh? He's not trolling at all. He tends to make a lot sense. If anything he's blunt and to the point, and quite factual. When people are ranting and raving over trivial matters, he comes in and sets the record straight with witty one liners which shuts up the ignorant and educates the one with more than a handful of braincells. He doesn't post ludicrously lengthy replies and pretty much tells the victim that they're stupid and know nothing.
Also, I have no idea what to do for predictions. I can't think of anything new, other than more tiny advances like new iPads, OS updates. 3D is a tough one, the televisions will no doubt become a bit easier to get hold of, and maybe a bit cheaper as that tends to be how marketing works - more people come into play so you've got to out sell 'em on price or performance to justify your product and give it an edge etc.
Obviously there's the 3DS, but that seems to be in a league of its on, other competitors are the PSP which seems to be dying, with word of a "Sony Playstation Phone" being introduced, like the Xperia but apparently recent tests show it's not quite up to speed yet.
I guess one could be game companies creating new versions of mobile gaming - Nintendo have their 3DS which is keeping with the usual handheld market, but Microsoft and Sony will go on to introduce it to the mobile phone market, which may give it an edge over Apple - Xbox Live, PS3 Network, keeping it all together . Microsoft and Windows Phone 7 seem to be nibbling at it at the moment, so we might be seeing the start of a new market.
" a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."
Sounds like a troll to me.
Please refrain from off topic posts. This thread is for 2011 Technology Predictions and Discussion ONLY.
Stereoscopic?
The iPhone might catch up in terms of spec.. I joke I joke, apple will never make the iPhone decent.
Apple could enter the games market?
More things will be in "the cloud"
Tablets will loose popularity
Google may actually finish a product
More "connected" technology. Such as being able to control a kitchen appliance via your mobile phone (kk, maybe a few more years?)
a lot of these predictions ive seen are pretty obvious ones (i.e. new updated apple products), but as for technology/the internet in general;
-the debate on net neutrality is going to hit the roof, i unfortunately expect new laws to be passed that let companies control the internet.
-3D TVs i'm predicting will actually die out, at least temporarily. in all honestly i think the 3d televisions are just absurd and unnecessary, ive seen one and it mostly just makes me sick i cant watch it for more than 10 minutes. i dont think there's nearly enough interest in 3D for it to become very popular, i hear people complaining that there's too many 3D movies all the time, people dont want 3D in their homes.
- more companies will be jumping on the smartphone bandwagon, im guessing there will be a new major operating system pretty soon.
fat chance. tablets are just the beginning of the evolution of the personal computer. there may not be many people with it now, but over time the specs on it will become finer and finer and they'll eventually replace laptops. eventually (id say within the next 10 years), we're just going to have full-on computers that we can fold up and put in our pockets. we already have the technology to do this, its just not yet marketable.
right now they're busy on their self-driving car.
Kinect type device for PCs or TVs.
The death of the humble button.
didn't take long

DSG buyout Comet then rebrand PC World/Comet/Currys/Currys Digital all into Currys.
Currys and PC World have been together for years, Dixons bought out Currys in 1984 and PC World in 1993. I think Jameseh was suggesting Dixons Retail Plc will buy out Comet Group and shortly afterwards re-brand all of their stores; PC World, Currys, Currys.digital etc to one name. I'm doubtful that would happen, PC World and Currys are both famous names and other than the computing side of their operations, they're quite different. Also PC World operates a Business sector in-store which deals with (obviously), businesses and their computing/office needs as well as Tech Experts, or in a more literal sense, a repair services section. Currys has general household appliances too, rather than computers. If they did merge the names into one single entity, there would probably be individual names like Tesco have: Metro, Express, so they can divide their products and have individual specialities, like PC sector (PC World), household appliances (Currys) and city centre stores (Currys.digital).
That said, I have no idea what Comet are up to, you do not really hear about them, but apparentl they're opening up city centre stores to compete against Currys.digital stores. Plus a merger would be interesting, Kesa Electricals which own Comet have hundreds of stores across Europe (with other names, of course), so they might not sell out too soon.
Thread Closed for CES 2011 - I will reopen after CES - the thread will be updated with all engadgets news of the event :)
Right.. I apparently completely forgot about this thread! Just doing a little update, and shown any correct predictions (quoted most people I think!). I will make another post in a minute with any predictions that are bolded "Not Correct." That means they could still come true, so I will update the thread again at the end of the year. Right then :)
Cheers, will post again in a minute.
