What put me off is using the ones at school, I don't know about Macs, but what can slow them down and make them crash a lot?
I was using the high end iMacs at school and they crashed a lot.

Tbh, it could of been one or two things, maybe the hardware was going bust inside. Or maybe if there had been heavy media work going on, it could of burnt out a little bit. Although im on a mac mini and use photoshop pretty much all the time and had no side effects at all. My mac has crashed once when I was fiddling around with some hardware, but apart from that they are fine!
Its your choice. But tbh its so worth it.
Its rare you find people who switch to mac, then switch back. And you will be switching at a good time, Leopard is in its prime, next year when 10.6 is out it wont be loaded with new features as they will be fine tuning it and making it run better without taking up lots of room and all sorts. Go for it tbh ;)

Computers don't get worse because they burn out, computers die because they burn out. Performance won't be reduced.. it either will work or it wont.
If half of your CPU is black, it doesn't mean you get half the performance

Oh and my taskbar varies from black to grey for no reason - today it's grey :S.
