It might work. Depends what time it's set in.

But the thing that makes me wonder is the Cold War thing.. Surely that's not true?

There were rumours of GTA: World, or something along those lines. Apparently they were going to recreate a number of real life cities (Paris, London, New York, Tokyo) and allow you to travel between them.

Sounds good. I think the most likely though is GTA: London, because in the "original" GTA series on PS1 there was 3 cities, Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. Then there was an expansion which was GTA: London. We've already seen the first three so I think its likely they will re-create the GTA: London game.

I'm actually expecting an all new fictional place.

If it was going to be set in London, it would have been announced as GTA: London methinks. Plus, with stuff like the 7/7 bombings, I think it might be a bit too risque for Rockstar to give players the chance to blow the city up themselves (not to mention the fact that London in 3D has pretty much been done already in The Getaway).

I just have a feeling GTA: IV is something new.

Ah, yeah. I never thought about that. Good point. Maybe it will be something completlely new. Lets just wait and see :)
