i read about them in kerrang! when they were first interviewed, think it was about april 2006. it actually took me a few weeks to get into them, but soon enough i was addicted, and i still am now.

Abigail Williams. Heard of them on a site I use sometimes, and decided to check them out.

I don't think there's anyone under 50 who's never heard of Blink 182, so it's not really possible for me to say where I first heard of them.
