The only problem I can see is that some of the characters lack the actually to deliver lines properly, Will just doesn't seem natural enough to me which may be deliberate, I'm unsure at this point.

I agree, it's easier to relate to. I love it, I watched the episode the other day (where he gets his car) but not sure if it was the first episode or not.
