That system simply does not work, its what we've tried for years (trust me, I've been here for many of them.) What happens is you guys don't get the updates for much longer than anticipated. Things were pushed off one, two three weeks. I know one project that was pushed back for two whole months before it was done, and support took months and months to implement.
The amount of changes we make based on user feedback has increased dramatically because of this new system, in the past forum-based changes were rare and mostly based on when we wanted to change something. The new system allows more user-based change because since we do "need" to make changes (technically we could skip a week if we were busy with other things) forum management is now a lot more responsive to the feedback given by users about the forums.
Its not that forum management was bad or lazy in the past, but they were volunteers and they set their own deadlines. Here with our self imposed deadlines, it still requires dedication on the part of the staff, like lAscend has, but since they stick to the deadlines things actually get done.
