Popular girls don't date 'social rejects'
No-one is jealous of you hun, if they were really jealous of you for reading out infront of the school I'm sure they would try harder to do so, doubt it's anyones school dream. If people were jealous of you, why would you care if they didn't like you? I wouldn't want to be friends with people jealous of me (hence why I don't have many x). Sorry to be so blunt but they might ignore you because they see you as, well, a bit geeky? Not many 'cool' people stand infront of their school to read things out and not many people will want to befriend the people that do because it's seen as being the teacher's pet and a bit of a nerd & it's just not cool to be friends with that kind of people.
Do what Clowgon said, go up to one of the main people when they're by themselves and ask, you might get an answer and if they're still rude you shouldn't want to be around them :S
You might be a little paronoid, but if your 16 you'll be leaving soon anyway so yeah don't worry. Oh and what Jen said aka Buttons. They are not jealous of you... probably think you're abit of a freak.

Well, I admire your confidence with getting up infront of everyone to read. I don't know tbh, I suppose I'd have to see it before i can truley help, perhaps maybe they think your a 'swat' or 'stuck up', you could try saying hello or hi to people in the corridor and gradually work friendships with everyone?
Well at least you can get up and read in front of a group of people I can't do that without turning extreamly red lol
