The boy obviously isn't normal. Wanting to be the opposite sex is messed up. It's possible that he has turned so feminine because his father left him at the age of 2. I'm not suggesting that all people who lost their father at a young age turn feminine but at the first signs of him saying he wanted to be a girl, perhaps his mother accepted it and went a along with it. His father would of took none of it and the boy would of stopped saying "ooh I want to be a girl and love boys, I'm in the wrong body". It is common for boys to turn bad if they are brought up without a father. If the mother is too soft with the boy, the boy will start behaving badly and wanting his own way and know that he won't get in trouble for doing things, that's what dads are for. The NHS should not waste money on silly little boys like him, if he goes private then fine, if he doesn't have the money then that's just tough, perhaps his mother might have the cash to pay someone to sort his mind out though?

Depression isn't meant to be a part of life (not real depression anyway, obviously everyone gets down every now and then) but I do agree that expensive procedures like this are very very rarely necessary to have paid for by the NHS

More likely he'd still feel that way but wouldn't be so open about it and would therefore be more depressed if his true sex and sexuality was made to be repressed from a young age.

You seem to be suggesting that this is something this kid's asking for in the same way as wanting a PS3. I don't know if this is the case or not but often there is in a developing foetus a chance of it being either/or (as in a hermaphrodite: see Lady Gaga) and the parents then often pick which gender to bring the child up as, usually with the aid of the right hormones if this is done. With this, it's entirely possible for a child to be brought up as the "wrong" gender and not what they are by nature, so I wouldn't say that wanting such a massively life changing procedure to go ahead was him being a "silly little boy".

Oh I apologize, I didn't realise that he was a hermaphrodite, it would be understandable for him (or perhaps her in this case? :S) to want to be the opposite sex. I must of missed that bit in the news.

Not a big deal. A boy had already had a sex change at 14 not a big deal. The first boy to get a change was ages ago :S The result as a girl was amaing, she looks stunning now and has a contract as a model now :)
His/Her name was previously Tim and now its Kim, see :)
Edit - They granted it to her to get a change because they realised she was actually serious about becoming a girl.

If it's been medically diagnosed then the government in Canada waves the green flag. I thought it was the same sort of deal in most places.

I remember that documentary on channel four about younger kids wanting sex changes. Obviously it's quite simular but they have time to grow into the opposite sex by taking treatment. I think that 14 is too young for a person to fully decide what they want.

I am pretty sure that was in Germany. My point being they don't have our NHS there, this is regarding the NHS in the UK.
