Is it acceptable to date someone younger than you?

Bit of an exaggeration. If someone is over 18 then it negates pedophilia. Someone over 21 can legally date an 18 year old.

To be fair, in the UK someone 16+ can legally date someone over 21.

In my opinion though, as long as both parties are 18+ then it doesn't matter.

So a 11 yr old with a 17 year old?

I swear you are allowed to date at any age under law, you just can't be remotely sexual if one is 16 and the other is under 16.

(or one is 18 and the other is under 18 in the case of teachers/doctors/etc)
