This is roughly what we're working off now - just having to tweak things because what we'd like to do won't be possible with current system - but I'm fed up of waiting for it as SOMETHING can be done now!
I just had a thought about the items in demand - I don't know like what's paricularly popular but I thought we could put a form on saying "The item you're looking for not here? Fill out this form and we'll see what we can do" and if we have multiples of that, consider bringing it back into a misc section. Thoughts?
I'd love to agree with you, but the problem is the lack of staff which just makes it all unfeasible in its current form. I've just looked at the staff list to see the department is even smaller than I thought, with only 2 Rare Values Reporters?! As for the number of furniture items on Habbo, roughly 5050 - if you were to assign each reporter a set of items, they'd have a list exceeding 2000. There just isn't the staff anymore to keep up with updating everything and the number of people relying on Habbox for Rare Values has definitely fallen considerably since its peak.
There's a lot more to Rare Values than just the value - there's the graphs and value history that goes back way longer than what Habbo allows us to see and so for that reason it'd be great if every single item could exist on Habbox. However, as I've said before it just does not work anymore.
If it was my choice I'd keep gold star items (super rates) too, and also silver star items (normal rares).
Has this been announced publicly? (I haven't been very active as of late, but it'd be nice to have a look if it's out there!).
Page views would be interesting too, and if possible some way of actually seeing which categories are more actively used.
Agreed!
But surely it's unreasonable to expect only a few staff to keep over 5000 values up to date?
If there was the staff to maintain the values of all of the 4000+ tradable items on Habbo (just guessing that at least 4000 must be tradable, but maybe not :P) then I'd agree with you, but I think it's best if they just remove them all (in regards to your comment about Area etc).
It'd still be nice to have every item there - just separate the categories which are valued from the ones that aren't valued. So basically my vision is this; FE role will be affiliated with the Content department who will add all the items to Habbox. The categories which are valued will be displayed separately from those which are not, so for example perhaps going to hatbox.com/rv will allow you to see just the valued categories to avoid confusion, but going to the furniture guide under the guides section would show every category and every item whether valued or not. So the Content/RV department will have to communicate to make sure the valued categories are being set up correctly to enable the reporters to update values. If that makes sense..
What exactly makes them sound lazy?

I think it could end up like the Trade Team and just be rarely used, and if an item was to be added due to request and department began to track it and value it.. how do you know people are actually making use of it? It is a nice idea though and if you're (aimed at the RV department) willing to put in that extra time and effort to maintain the request system then it could be ok, maybe just trial it at first.
I agree and I think theres even more that the department could move into - away from 'values' and into a plethora of new things - history, analysis, builders, the list goes on!
Dan announced it a while ago on the poll thread I think (or an update one) and done at least 1 announcement since about what we've been doingQuote:

I'd be interested in seeing these stats. @xxMATTGxx;?Quote:

It wouldn't necessarily be every item that was requested - just if we saw a lot of requests for one item over a period of time, consider adding it?Quote:

Unfortunately we don't really have V6 page stats - Not information that would tell you how much Rare Values is being used. What furni items on that are the most viewed or how much the search is used on it. Nothing like that whatsoever.
Get on it mattg.
Personally, I really like the idea of possibly keeping all/most categories but possibly having people submitting values for approval.. I'm not sure how this would be done, as extra features would need to be added to the site to be able to do this, but I do really like this idea.
Thanks!
