The monarchy support % is also often under represented in polling as we saw in the Australian polling prior to the 1999 republic referendum, where polling consistently suggested a republic was inevitable but which the monarchy won by a decent margin. That's why Australian republicans are so frit about asking the question again, because their polling position is worse now than it was in the early and mid 1990s when they were slaughtered despite having the odds stacked in their favour.
It's also the reason why republican politicians in other Commonwealth realms constantly threaten a republic, but then shy away from it because many realm constitutions require referendums on the topic and the polling is far from certain that they'll win, especially when a specific republican model is proposed which splits the republican camp.
