"Overrated" is just an opinion basically. Its overused.
Edit - Opps, off topic again..

It is. It really is. Everyone's always talking about how "oh, music isnt the way it used to be; old music was so much better" but I've rarely heard someone say "classic rock sucks". For some reason you can smack talk all of today's music but god forbid someone says Led Zeppelin wasen't that great. I'm kinda sick of hearing about it. Yes, we get it, when everyone was high, drunk, getting in fights with other band members and making the lamest music video ever, it was much more fun. But get with the times. Music changes, it doesnt make it worse.
Oh the blasphemers!
You shall be burned at the stake when the sun rises tomorrow >:(
i don't rly listen to metal. the hardest stuff i listen to is alexisonfire.
No man, the chicks go in front. That chick behind you, she ain't no chick.
i dont listen to metal really, i'm not quite sure on the definition of metal.
but lets see according to my winamp.
36 crazyfists, alexisonfire, the bled <3, ffaf & underoath.
well if any of those are actually metal. i like them all :D
oh & i aslo think classic rock is overrated. i can't stand any of it.
Lol, sorry are you telling me to get with the times? I'll do and like whatever music I want. =/ Just because it's old, doesn't mean you can't like it anymore. Jeez, my nan is old but I still like her. Also, all I said in my post was 'Was that a joke too?' Who said anything muisc changes or making it worse? Oh and by the way, some of the music videos back then were amazing and alot better than they are now.
iTunes tells me that the 'metal' music in my library is- Feeder, System of a Down, Tool and Underoath.
I know Feeder definitely aren't, but I don't properly know what metal actually is so uhh..
What's wrong with Hip Hop? And you are being incredibly biased. Just because you like Led Zepp/Hendrix it means they must have done more for their genre, get over yourself!
Probably about 90-95% of music videos are better now purely based on technology changes and how much a band/artist spends on music videos.
Well considering led zepp disbanded because of bonzo's death- if bonzo was still here they'd still be rocking now most likely.
Also:
"Led Zeppelin IV is the fourth best-selling album in history, having sold more than 22 million copies, and four other albums by the band – Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin II, Houses of the Holy and Led Zeppelin - also rank among the all-time top 100"
http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/led-zeppelin
They've had such an impact on music, album sales, inspired many people, (not too sure if the whole of the band has) but jimmy page is in the music hall of fame.
So meh..
By the way i'm not disrespecting blink-182- they're a great band, I just don't think you can compare the two to be honest.
Yeah but Classic Rock/that type of rock isn't alive. It's just rated highly upon people who are living in the past/barely listen to new music "because it doesn't compare".
And also, what is wrong with Hip Hop? I'm pretty sure you made a sarcastic comment about it.
Classic rock is still alive sort of: White stripes/Rolling stones (they'll die in about 100 years)/aerosmith etc (sorry very tired so can't give good examples)
Music just seems to be bland.. everyone's copying each other kind of, still a few good bands out there, just seems like music needs a kick in the right direction: more original bands etc: sort of why I like enter shikari: Rave/Rock/Metal kind of thing: Not too keen on the songs but I like their originality.
Also hip-hop is ok... I prefer old school rap/hip hop like run-dmc and all, 50 cent/eminem/eurgh.. *jumps off cliff* :P
I'm sorry but I just don't agree with that at all.. I enjoy what is classified as "classic rock" and will rate it highly for it's impact upon music. But if you were to take a look at my music taste you'd notice that I love the new music scenes going on right now, and I would easily say that some of the music being created is to the standard of some of the older music people have listed. So for you to say that basically people who enjoy and rate "classic rock" highly are outdated is a bit wrong.
I fail to see how White Stripes are part of this 'Classic Rock' scene? That thought just makes me laugh infact. I also fail to see how Rolling Stones are "alive" in their scene. I'm not sure whether they are still composing music but if they are then it shows how "reknowned" they are for their newer music. Hell you can rate Rolling Stones highly for their style of music, but it's all the past songs (Sympathy for the devil was a tune) and if they are still creating music then they really do fail to grab much attention from it. I must agree Enter Shikari are original and it's very experimental, but just because a lot of bands/artists fit in the same genre doesn't make them any less original. Queen, Led Zepp, Status Quo and bands like that all fall under the genre of 'classic rock' but that doesn't mean each band isn't original.
I was actually targeting what I said to people, unlike yourself, say how new music is rubbish and how "it'll never compare to classic rock music"
I was talking about the white stripes as in carrying on the sort of "classic rock" genre but with a fresh style..
The stones are still touring you know? Just because they don't release a new single every week doesn't mean they've retired
Also where did I ever say Queen Status Quo Led zepp weren't all different from another? Your argument is really flawed :S
how can you have a modern style classic rock.
i thought classic rock was a term to describe rock bands of old, not an actual genre
Grrrr, dude. Are you listening to what Im saying? Trust me, Im really trying to be nice and fair with all this stuff. My point is that no one should be ttell what they should be listening to. Listen to caveman music from 2000 BC for all I care, but please, never say that music as a whole has gotten better or worse.
The music industry, yes, you can argue has changed. The 90's and the internet changed a lot of things, and ever since file sharing has exploded, the music industry has returned to a pre-Beatles mindset where bands are judged almost solely by singles. Which does lead to repetitiveness on the radio, because they go with what works.
But if you dig a little deeper, you'll see that right now we have some of the most diverse and creative music ever. The only thing that has changed, or "gotten worse", is the top layer.
classic rock is gay.
feel free to do so, if that's your opinion. why are you so scared to just come out and say it?
classic rock is still gay.
im taken, sorry.
plus the above statement shows that chilloutrich is gay.
