get in!
the look on that saggy *****s face - priceless.
candleface is unhappy :D:D
let's just wait for leah's obligatory leeds are world beaters thread.
Harry Redknapp is attractive. I'd tap it.
someone has a chip on their shoulder :$
I've never said Leeds are world beaters, I'm usually quite critical of them if you actually read what I post. I give credit when credit's due and if I think a side played better than us I say it. Before the MU game I said we'd lose and before this game I said we'd lose, but yeah really deluded on us beating the world, should just submit the leeds team into the world cup, scew england ;l
every match has 5 mins added on now lol
Top of the league ;)
Pleased that Leeds have another game too, pleased that the Man Utd fans have chosen such wonderful protest colours.
Beat Everton 2-1... Were gonig to Wembley.. que sera sera..
So do i. But would rather a realy realy easy tie. Hard one!
you make a thread when they win and don't when they don't. in the past tense. you've stopped now because people have picked up on it. for what it's worth, i like seeing a cup run because it's respect for the lower leagues which i have and many, if not all leeds fans do not. too big for league one etc etc blah blah shurrup.
I didn't every time at all, I didn't used to post regularly so i'd just pop on and post it sometimes, and that was usually for a big game cause I wasn't used to the way this forum worked. Now I just post in the weekend games so theres no need for you to keep bringing up the past at every opportunity.
I made a man united thread but not cause we won cause i made it during the game, just to discuss the match cause it was on the telly! I've never said we were too big for league one, however, we are. Not the current team but the club as a whole, judging by the size of the stadium, the fanbase etc
Time are teh hilights on?
quarter past 11
no, I said I never said it before, but when he mentions it, it's true.
I didn't say they deserve to be there, you never read what I say and you just jump to your own silly conclusions. In a conversation you're meant to listen and reply. Yeah we deserve to be there because we got relegated, but that doesn't mean the club as a whole isn't too big for that league, cause it is. Same as the other teams you listed. We all deserve to be there but the clubs are greater than the other teams in that league, it's an observation, nothing to do with me not hacking it.
When a league one club is getting higher attendances than most of the premier league clubs it's obvious that the club doesn't belong in the league they're in.
It's nothing to do with realisation, it's fact. Leeds are a big club, Massive fanbase, huge stadium. Leeds belong in the premier league but are not there due to huge mistakes they've made. These mistakes could just as easily be made by clubs like Liverpool, United, Chelsea, would you say that they were not too big a club for league one? no.
:S
And on the other club front, they're teams that are constantly at the top of the Premier League and have been for a long time, so it's more unlikely that they would flal into the same position.
A club isn't "too big" for any League, they warrant the position they're in based on everything - the way the club is run, finances, players, management etc. Huddersfield get crowds of 10,000+ but have remained in and around League 1 for quite some time, but S****horpe and especially Doncaster have gone up to the Championship with crowds of less than that, in much smaller stadiums and have been able to stay there (in Doncaster's case) or get there more than once (S****horpe have been in the Championship twice while Leeds have been in League One).
Urgh, Jenas' days are surely numbered. Why can't Redknapp realise this!? If he's looking for a creative midfielder then surely Giovani dos Santos is a better reserve for Huddlestone. Huddlestone's creativity and passing ability was missed, as was Lennon's pace. Fair play to Leeds though, they chucked everything at us. Very impressed with Bale, apart from when we were 2-1 up he opted to run into 3 defenders instead of pass to an unmarked Pavlyuchenko which would have buried the game. He also needs to play more, not just because he scored... but because Keane hasn't been the same since he left us for Liverpool and he is faster, cleverer and better at holding the ball up than Crouch. Pav- Crouch is also a partnership which hasn't really been tried, and today gave a glimpse of what could potentially happen when they play together...
Am I alone in thinking Beckford is slightly over-rated and wouldn't really live up to expectations in the prem? Surely if managers thought that much of him then they would have made an offer when he put himself on the transfer list?
to be fair, the only reason Leeds are in that league is because of finances, without the trouble we had we'd never have had to sell the players we once had. Leeds used to be one of the best teams in the PL though, then we fell into financial jeopardy, any of those clubs could do the same.
The league you're in is determined by the team you have, that's obvious. But the team you have playing for you doesn't have any bearing on the club, most of the premiership sides have bigger stadiums and bigger fanbases, leeds have a bigger fanbase and stadium than a majority of the PL sides.
no I think he's overrated too! Can't believe everton have agreed to sign him on a free, he'd never last in the PL.
To be fair, in his last two games against PL sides, he's scored 3 goals. Good sides too.
Leeds fans are all the same with this "we belong in the premier league", "we're better than you all" thing. you don't and you're not. the table doesn't lie as they say and if you belonged in the premier league you'd be there. you had your chance to get promoted in 2008, you didn't take it. you had it last year, you didn't take it.
beckfords first touch is too poor for the premier league in my opinion
One was a penalty and one was just a fluke.
If he did come to the PL it'd just be David Nugent, Michael Chopra, Ebanks-Blake, Marlon King, Gary Mcsheffery, Rob Earnshaw, Jason Scotland etc all over again. They've all been relatively prolific in lower divisions but haven't really experienced success in the top flight. I know some of those players haven't really played much this season, but you get my point.
don't forget how many chances he created though.
he beat decent united defenders
first to react in the box from the corner against spurs
won the penalty against spurs
S****horpe away today, after purchasing my United & Hull away along with some other things I'm relatively out of pocket, well minus the money for the United & Hull away games however that won't be getting spent till the games.
Luckily for me it's on ITV today at 15:45!
i don't think beckford is overated. he's too good for leeds. he's good at creating chances and finishing them, if he goes to the right club he will get a lot of chances and thus be a success.
boro match was pretty dire again, flukey goal was good though. :P
any hull fans on here at OT yesterday?
Don't think the forum has any Hull fans tbh...
Most of them were lucky Jake, plus in the PL he won't get given half as many chances as he gets atm.
We're not talking about the teams, after all the team is what gains you relegation and promotion. I mean the club as a whole, getting higher attendances than most of the sides in the PL shows how big a club leeds is and the bigger clubs should be in the higher leagues. The only reason we are in such a low league is through poor management of finances.
finally someone who speaks sense!
exactly, in this league he can beat defenders and get *loads* of chances because they're slower and not as good at defending, he scores loads of goals in a *crap* league but he still manages to miss way more shots than he scores and thats cause he has poor control of the ball. He rarely creates his own chances, he usually gets them handed to him on a plate.
how many times did he beat those defenders though? not often...
anyone can win a penalty, you just get fouled, it's not some amazing skill he has
Beckford rarely creates his own chances, he usually relies on his supporting striker to hand it to him on a plate and about 7/10 times he will miss the goal. He won't last in the PL, he doesn't have the skill, he'll get fewer chances than he does now and his goal rate will drop dramatically, that's if he ever even gets picked.
He isn't good at getting chances? he's a very lazy striker and his ego is far too big. Every time i've seen him play he's had chances handed to him and he's missed most of them and then blamed other people. If he goes to a club in the PL the amount of chances will decrease because the defenders are much better in that league, in league 1 he has so many chances that he can afford to miss most of them but he won't get those opportunities in higher leagues.
Hm. Mixed line-up. We have Fabianski, Campbell, Silvestre, Traore, Fabregas, Denilson, Walcott and Vela playing who are all capable players. We also have Arshavin on the bench just incase so hoping for a good result. 3 reserve team players starting today so we'll see how they do but I'm glad Fabregas is playing.
Stoke 1 - 0 Arsenal
1 minute in.
Rory delap throw.
Without being biased, Chopra wasn't actually that bad, he was just played on the wing alot. Hope the Sunderland fans back me up :P
Leah, you're in League one because your team's not good enough not because of "poor management of finances"
Goodbye Arsenal. Why rest half your team v Stoke? :S
Ah crap lol. Errr... yeah donno why we are but I still think we can win. Arshavin, Rosicky and Eduardo all on the bench so we have the fire power but the defence is too weak at the moment.
