The man in black from S5's finale, the man who was Jack's father on the island, Ecko's brother, Libby etc (all manifestations of other people that people on the island have seen were all the Man in Black who is currently [and permanently according to Illana] in the form of John Locke). We still don't know who he is, not in the literal sense but I mean why he is there, what he's doing etc etc. Oh yeah and he's the smoke monster.
Still dying to see the big picture and now I can't help feel that the only person who actually knows and is willing to explain the truth is Richard now that Jacobs out of the way. It's hard to imagine that the man in black is correct and that oceanic 815's coming to the island was all for no reason at all so I'm still wanting answers.

Cant remember exactly what was said but I got the idea that Richard didn't know Jacob's plans because the man in black said something along the lines of "you've done all this for jacob and he didnt even tell you why?". Then he offered to take Richard with him and he would show him the truth, but he declined.

And I found it interesting how the man in black threw the white rock from the scales into the sea, leaving the black rock. Evil outweighing good?

i also dont get why he said that the reason for them coming to the island is to get there name scratched off or end up running the island and basically no reason for them to be there, he must be covering something because i doubt that's the reason

according to the man in black, jacob brought them to the island so that he could choose one of them to take over the role of protecting the island. the man in black says that there is no reason to protect the island but we dont (and possibly wont) know jacob's side of the story
