For Leona to win a talent competition then basically go straight to stardom defeats all negative views regarding how 'crap' people think she is, and how 'talentless' for that matter. She's loved in the UK and in the US, both places people desire their talent to be recognised.
Another thing I don't understand is how people can say Jesse McCartney must be fuming that he didn't release the song as his own, (due to it's success) because Leona's vocals fit the flow and rhythm of the song, it sounds natural and not forced. Her wide range worked with the high notes and the power of the lyrics or whatever, Jesse's version just wouldn't.

well he was interviewed and it is on youtube and he said he didnt care because the song wasnt rite for his voice thats why the record lable dropped it and the song fits leonas voice.
And btw apparently Avril is hated in canada where she is from, i dont think she is that sucessful in the us or the uk. Leona is massivley sucessful in the UK and the US and with bleeding love she went no1 in over 20 countrys world wide, I dont think avril has had that.

Tbh, ye it is pop but look at the tens of millions more people who like her compared to avril. And no doubt as she develops as an artist she will start writing her own stuff! And I dont know how you can say she dont have more talent or w.e than avril. Her voice is 10x better even if it is manafactured pop. Look at avril's girlfriend and im sure alot more songs, thats not pop is it?

& just a singer? she is an artist, she creates art with her instrument, her primary instrument being her vocals, so she is hardly just a singer, she is talented, can sing, play instruments, dance, act and appeals to alot of people as well as being inspirational to others who grow up wanting to sing because they find it passionate.
The voice is an instrument no different to the kinds bands use. And Leona is very well trained at using it. Being "indie" or "manufactured pop" or whatever genre isn't going to change how much musical talent someone has.
