Nope its not a flaw in the software its exactly what it's designed to do. The scenario is you are unaware of any malicious code in the browser that might spy on you or eat you alive or whatever but you are aware than the chinese government have a history of jiggery pokery. Would you use the browser even if it was really good and had some killer feature that would make you want to buy it?

IE - not stable enough, slow, to slow updates.
FF - The best, lovely add-ons, skins (personas) [w/ personas switcher this makes your browser looks different sexy every minute!]. Goodies, speed ok <3
Safari - Have used it, nah... Apple doesn't even bother making a good way to import bookmarks, etc, from other browser -> sucky.
Chrome - Lightning, I also use it for if Firefox doesn't work the page for me. Now with add-ons it's great but I would digg more themes cuz there's now just some and not everyone can create one.
Opera - Too weird. + what they did was unacceptable.

your example is invalid because that would actually give me a reason to not trust the company to a very big extent where as I might not be fond of what opera has done, but I can obviously still trust that they wont log everything Im doing. he says he wont use opera because they did something he found unfair. That has absolutely no reflection as too how good the product's going to be.

I'm posting this from android and its measurably laggy so please excuse any grammatical errors I assume I've made.

And that is a perfectly valid opinion on his own choice of browser. You're right, it doesn't reflect on how good the browser is - just his own reasons for not using it as alex and I have our reasons for using it.

Noticed a bug on text fields when scrolling though. Making vB skinning difficult :P

You do have a reason not to trust the company unless you'd trust the chinese government not to be evil to you in which case yes my example would be invalid. But they do have a history of that and you said you'd use it if it was a good browser which is what I'm surprised about.

Moving back to the browser discussion :P

Has anyone noticed Windows Update is coming up with an "optional" update which has something to do with choosing which browser to install? It's under important updates, but isn't automatically set to download (you have to select it). Bit late, aren't they? Not that anyone cares, seeing as IE does a perfectly good job itself finding the browsers to download. It's half the fun of a new PC using IE to download all the important stuff :P

You and I are now talking about two different things.

Me: If a product is good and you know it's good don't boycott it only because of the actions of the company which in no way relate to how the product preforms and how secure the product is.

You: If the company is shady and you don't trust using the companies product being intertwined to your personal information then don't use it. And I agree. I said the example was invalid in reference to my point because in the example the actions of the company reflect the productivity and security of the actual product.

Jamsey: nope I didn't see that :D I'm guessing it'll just be the browser ballot screen thing, why are they rolling that out as an update rather than slapping it on new install disks? IT MAKES NO SENSE :'(

I believe they were allowed to sell Windows 7 at the time as it is then release some browser thing afterwards. Either way MS were doing tests on it from last Friday and it should be rolling out across Europe from March 1st. Opera should of just left it well alone.
