You must be referring to when I was hating on Windows Vista. Blackberry's being a smartphone is a fact. They are categorized as Smartphones therefore qualify as a smartphone.
You calling "dumbphones" expresses your opinion which you are entitled to however unfortunately for you, you calling them dumbphones doesn't alter the fact that they are smartphones.
