are your parents concerned that you speak to people online?

Dad hasn't got a problem with it, he knows I've used the internet and talk to people, and have done since 2005.

I think that in this decade we have been subjected to enough 'pedo awareness' that most kids are too smart to get caught up in bad things. Granted, there are exceptions and incidents where this doesn't hold true but parents seem to be living in a prior age.

I think my mum knows I have met people off the internet I'm sure she does that's why I find it so strange her recently going on about it, she hasn't bothered lately it was more so a few days ago she can't say *REMOVED* anyway she met her bf on a dating site lmao

My mom used to ask me where I knew certain online friends from and I'd come up with an excuse but I guess as I've gotten older she doesn't care anymore.

If I actually told them I had met people from the internet, I still don't think they would worry too much. They know and expect me to take care of myself, I think.

I think the few people who it had affected in any way probably got into the mentality like your mums that because it happened to them, it must be happening to a lot of people.

Anyway my dad used to be a bit concerned but I think when he realised I was more aware then he was that he stopped caring so much, at least expressing it. I'm sure sometimes he'd prefer I didn't but meh. Though it would be interesting to see his views to if I ever met some people from the net in real life, though if I do I shall not be telling him as he would have a massive rant at me most likely.

Lol nope, which thank god for that cos they'd be like :O:O:O:O:O:O if they could see my conversations with some people! Think there's two reasons, I'm 19 so they know I'm not naive and I'm a boy and I think it's just like the "get in there son"/"omg you ****" mentality. My sister who's 15 was talking to a boy and my dad can somehow check her computer from his own and found out today that it actually flags up when she's been saying inappropriate stuff. She's the little baby of the house so yeah they're concerned about her but not about me. Very unfair but I am breathing a sigh of relief :P
