Would you not agree that you are better off with those things and your issue rather than not having those things and your issue?
For example, if I had a terminal illness and a year or so left to live, I imagine my life would be a lot easier with internet/food/clothes/water than without - I mean, it still doesn't solve your problem, and your life is still difficult, but surely it's a lot more difficult without those things.
My point really is, there's always someone worse off, no matter how "hard" we consider our lives to be.
