"Preps" and "preppys" isn't a term used in the UK, but yeah it is American like "emo". Prep means today though what it originally did, unlike emo, which means today something completely different than what it originated as.
Jocks is another American "stereotype term". Meaning muscular guys with short haircuts who play American football.
