I don't understand what it odes - the Standford website isn't clear!
Okay right. The software you download uses your CPU power to calculate things such as the ways proteins within the human body are formed. This is the stages the software goes through -
1. Downloads the work unit (information on what the CPU has to calculate)
2. The software uses your CPU to actually do the calculating, this is the folding part.
3. When your work unit is complete, (this can take from hours to days or even weeks) the information worked out by your CPU is sent to the main server where that information can be used to help understand new ways to cure currently incurable diseases.
This process is repeated over and over. The more Work units you complete, the more points you receive (as seen on the Habbox team page).
How can a computer stop disease, and what do we get out of this?
You don't get anything out of it. Your donating.
The computer works out structures etc...
Also, you never know, through this, for example, they may be sooo close to finding a cure for cancer, and then you get cancer and wish you folded! :O
