Smartphones have all the things you've listed. What you're moaning about is the Blackberry has a terrible web browser and apps. Like calling a Robin Reliant a crap car because it has terrible wheels, suspension and a terrible reliability complex. It's still a car non-the-less :P
You could go about it this way, you seem to be stating the small screen and crap camera are the problems... So when the next generation of smart phones come about, does that mean the current iPhone, Nexus One and so forth are immediately removed from the Smartphone list, because the camera and screen sizes are too small? Infact, the new Xperia X10 mini has a tiny screen, and that's a smart phone!
And that's opinon you're stating, not fact ;)
Oh. It has in my opinion a great form factor. It's simple. Yes it's not as customizable but that makes it more to the point. You can listen to music on it, and the qwerty and trackball on most blackberries makes it comfortable to use. It will do your facebook, twitter and email fine if that's all you need. I like those qualities. That satisfies the needs of a lot of people. I still say it does not meet the requirements for a 2010 definition of a smartphone. I can accomplish a lot of tasks that I can on my Windows 7 or OS X computer on Windows 2000. But I wouldn't use Windows 2000 when I have amazing and wonderfully fast Windows 7 :)
It is a dumbphone. A house is a house. A car is a car. A blackberry is a dumbphone.
God no. It's overall that the blackberry is lacking in comparison to actual smartphones.
David seriously give up on this pointless, off topic argument. MOBILE Phones are smart.
Ok, I think thats quite immature..
Typical of David to think he's it, i so cant wait till he grows up (:
See I don't really get annoyed by people throwing hate in random directions, but I do get annoyed when incorrect 'facts' are spat out on a number of occasions (pointing to the smartphone reference here).
I've got nothing against HotelUser and totally understand if he doesn't like BlackBerry phones. I'm not a fan either, and I don't plan on buying or using one in the foreseeable future. But they are by all definitions a smartphone. Sony Ericsson produce many dumbphones and featurephones... but RIM do not. Smartphones are their forté. Heck, S60 is more antiquated than the current BlackBerry OS and S60 phones are undeniably smartphones.
i'll rep all good answers asap.
