That just sounds like they're too lazy to merge them to be honest. Like they said, if it wasn't banned they would, why not go the whole way and just unban then merge? There's not reason to keep it banned and it would be a waste of db resources. Besides, you were only quoting something on the forum which isn't a bannable offense, just some snotty person with a grudge really :P
If the account has been banned for over a year, and the owner of that account has a new one, they should be merged. It's hardly a punishment keeping it banned when they've effectively moved on. It's pointless keeping it there and the info that account holds (date of registry and post count/rep count) could be transferred to prove how long that person has been a member of the forum. Hardly any effort.
This is great idea and reward for those who have been here for ages (the pensioners I like to call them :P) I still have a few months yet but looking back at the announcements I recognise a lot of the early names :8
Oh ty for that angel. pensioners -.- lol
I disagree. Mostly because I can see where you are coming from, but your ban was an extraordinary circumstance. I understand how you feel and I will look further into the situation however few have the same situation.
I don't agree that the banned people should be allowed to have the VIP as the VIP is also an acknowledgement of people who have always tried to help Habbox constructively and thus not gotten banned. Or at least have been good enough not to get permed. There are some on the outlying edges who got shafted, I can think of at least one other person whose account got deleted (no not Mizki) but those are by far in the minority. That being said, I'll see what I can do about that.
I disagree entirely, however I can't really dispell your argument without revealing confidential ban information, so let me just say that the counterpoint to your argument is very close at hand :P Its not exactly a big secret, just I don't want to be the one to say it because I'm not supposed to discuss that :) Maybe I'm being silly but hey.
Interesting spin.
My response to both would be that you obviously want your account back, else you would not be lobbying for it. Mentor you make the point about a waste of DB space but it would be just as easy to clear up DB space by deleting banned accounts :P You want them back for different reasons, an old account holds value to each user for a different reason but if they cross the line enough to get permanantly banned it will be a reminder.
Its not like temp bans did not exist when the forum opened.
Laziness is not the issue :P You don't fully understand the situation, once again I'll act like a loon and go by my own standards of upholding this privacy policy that I think is inconvenient but in the end does more good than harm, but if Mentor thinks its silly he can PM me and I will be more than happy to PM him a full clarification which he will have my permission to post.
Yes. I know. Its stupid. I'm human :P
In the case of proving how long they've been a member, that is essentially a part of the punishment. They've lost the benefits of the old account, established name, old join date, high post count.
At the end of the day I think it comes down to a difference in philosophy behind punishment and its effectiveness. I think we'll probably disagree on this for a long time, but at this time its my turn as GM and so it will most probably stay that way. Who knows, maybe I'll come back one day to see GommeInc is running the forum (and die from a heart attack). I'm not closing the door on debate, you know by know that I welcome it and weirdly enough enjoy it. But I think we'll end up going back and forth because we look at the issue from two different sides, both of them valid, or at least I would like to think so.
You raise good points, i'm going to create a new thread on this issue though so not to drive this one completely offtopic :)

(what was i meant to pm you about i didnt quite follow? was it to do with my ban, or that other bans were in differnt circumstances)
This will cause an uproar but:
If you get banned you can hardly moan. You don't see habbo giving gold hc badges to users 'Because my gold hc account was banned'. Thats not how it works. "Don't break the rules, if you cannot take the time".
:8
I may loose out on the gold vip for being old but having a ban, but goin by your sigs i may still gain vip by still being a helpful member :p
My main issue is that i dont see the ban as justified, a perm ban is just OTT for what i did IMO. I expect a lot of the other older members who are still around and do have bans like mine are in a similar position. Due to the new rule about questioning old bans, i can no longer attempt to overturn the original ban (prove my innocents) so getting amnesty is the only real option left on the table for members like myself (which in fairness is probably the big majority of the old members around, having lived through some bug forum upheavals )
