Im not sure what your getting on about but it sounds alot like the one i tell my freinds..:

If a boat has a rope ladder over it and 3 foot steps are showing.. Then the water rises 14 ft (Each step is 3 ft) how meny steps are still showing.

And the answer is of course 3 because the boat floats :)

Edit: I know the answer. Its never as the boats floats but. Has someone already answered? im sorry if they have.
