Have we got any true hip hop fans?

I mean REAL hip hop, underground stuff... MF Doom, One.Be.Lo, Atmosphere, KMD, Apathy etc etc?

Just because some stuff is more commercial it doesnt mean that it isnt real hip-hop.


Anywho if you consider MC Lars, Sean Paul, Three 6 Mafia, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Method Man, Redman, or Asian Dub Foundation any of those to be hip hop, then yes I am a fan.

Nah, I used to be into the more-commercial hip-hop, such as Xzibit, Ludacris, etc. but I'm not anymore.

However, having said that, if it was played on the radio I wouldn't switch it over because of that reason.

What about 'old hip-hop' such a coolio, cyprus hill etc.. They were real hip-hop and you can never comment on them being bad. Just because some bands or people are more commercial doesn't make them 'real.' You want REAL hip-hop, go to the streets of LA or something, listen to them make their beats. Thats as real as it gets.

Heh, yeah. Those artists were great. However I don't listen to them often, but as I said, if it came on the radio I wouldn't switch it over.

This is true, i wasnt saying that ALL comercial hip-hop isnt real hip-hop, Such as, the wu-tang, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Common [Recently gone comercial], Mos Def etc etc

However i do not consider Sean Paul or Ludacris true hip-hop.

Yeah i managed to missed out "Old-School" hip-hop in my general question, But hell yes!! They were ... are real hip-hop, cant beat a bit of ice-t:

"6'n the morning' police at my door
Fresh adidas squerk across the bathroom floor

Don't even get a chance to grab my old school tape"

I dont really like 'underground' hip hop..
Its like some of the stuff on Channel U.
Its ok, but im more into 50, The Game, Dre etc..

Lol i dont mean Channel U, i cant watch that channel without cringing at all the scallies and hiphop wannabe's like klansakov or w/e his name is.
Im talking more about people like Immortal Technique, who blows your mind with every track in his albums, unlike 50 cent ... piggy bank duduh piggy bank -.-
