You get the reputation for either main city. Then, when exhalted, you just need to buy the mount.
Only the mount. But don't get a Horse, it'd the worst mount. You should try exhalted with The Exodar and get an Elekk. :P
The new races should be harder considering there are less quest givers. It was easy for me to get Orgrim rep because there are looaaads of orcs that give quests. There arn't that many Draenei's compared to humans. Or Nelfs, their mounts are nice.
I might work for Darnassus rep today then, but I'm revered with Draeni already somehow, if I did all the Draeni quest on their 2 islands I might be able to get exhalted?
