Death penalty

Would you say that the death penalty is used for deterrence? I have to write a piece of extended writing on the death penalty.

Yes as it stops people who need to be stopped. and if you kill someone i beleive you should be killed. there is no reason to kill someone

if there is no reason to kill someone why kill the guy who killed someone else its still killing
