Need URGENT help.
Ok,
On my friends computer, someone told him a link to get a Bus Driver game (well the download for it on rapid share), suddenly he gets a message from ESET NOD32 that there have been lots of trojans in his system32 folder. The computer restarts itself and as he tries to get onto the internet, he can't, only a blank screen comes up.
The trojans are still in system32 and NOD32 can't remove them. They're in quarantine, but nothing is happening.
Any suggestions as to what can be done?
Many thanks!

Reformat is the easiest way, and probably the safest. You don't know what trojans are left even if you manage to get him back on the internet, so all bank details, passwords etc are at major risk. If he has them backed up somewhere else, I wouldn't bother rescuing any files just in case a trojan has attached itself to them too.

how does one reformat (noob)
-
Easiest way is to take a sexy XP/Vista disc and format the partition with the nasties in it.
-
-
xp/vista disc in >
choose to install, or whatever >
look at the list of partitions already on there (basically a partition is what a copy of an OS exists within) >
delete the main (probably only) partition on the list >
install a fresh copy of the os.

Yeah, give it a reformat. Then he'll have the whole pc basically, cleaned.
