Hey, I'm 16 and a junior in high school this year. I just changed from private school to public (finally), and I want to make some friends and maybe find a girl :) are there any tips on striking up conversations besides the typical "hey how's it going", "sup", etc. i'm really shy and quiet at first and feel awkward when people talk to me at first for some reason, and especially in groups. i lack confidence :/
find someone with the same hobbies as you and talk about that.
i like to be treated nicely, if you see someone you like, hover around them quite a lot (not like a stalker :P) and just like start randomly talking to them, try and be funny (i like funny guys.)

The second someone starts talking to you, think you're the most amazing person in the entire world and that person LOVES you :) It works for a few seconds and by the time you know it, you're having a proper conversation. I do that with everything <.<
I was shy when i moved school but just pluck up some courage and talk to people. The 'whats up' type of thing to get started then talk about things around you or music or tv or something
Throw a party. When I moved schools I threw a party when my mom was out of town. Worked a charm.
Making fun of other people
You'll be put into a class so talk to people in there, perhaps insult the teacher to them or something to start conversation? Normally conversation just happens in classes.
just be yourself, i know it's hard but try to pluck some confidence and be friendly and casual.but don't overdo it and say unappropriate things
