Although this does not follow the traditional trading pattern for threads of this section I logged into the client to investigate and he really is giving away items for free (he says he's quitting). I suppose I'll have to vouch for him because he did give me several rares for free!

I went in his room and was just kicked TWICE before I even said anything.
