i'm due for an upgrade now. i was looking at getting an iphone 4, and the upgrade costs are horrendous - £32/month for 300 mins / ultd. texts and 500mb of internet and the phone is £200+
my friends have got much better deals: £30/month - 600 mins, ultd texts, 500mb data and the iphone 4 was £140 - they rung o2 specifically. what i need help with is how to get the best deals for an iphone 4? im a loyal o2 customer, if i rung up and threatened to switch would they offer me a significantly better contract?
-
o2 are very much the type of company to offer you loads and persuade you to stay when you say you're going to leave. I tried to get my PAC code to transfer my number and spent 10 minutes with the feller trying to sell me stuff on o2 offering me minutes and everything haha (Even though I was moving to o2 anyway just didn't tell em that)
I'm with o2 got an iPhone 4 last month with this
900 mins
Unlimited texts
500Mb Internet
£45 a month, free handset
No sort of special deal for customers either
If that deals still out get that, if not ring them and ask about that deal see if they can match it and say orange have a very similar deal on (they do) and if o2 can't match it you might as well go to orange, they'll most likely try and match it (:
-
If you were to ring them up, then yes they are likely to give you a much better deal. Or even go to an o2 shop (I think they have them :P). That's what my mum did with tmobile when she wanted to switch, and she came back with a better deal and a new phone :P.

Just putting this out there, you could hold out for the iPhone 5 which should be announced in September. I only say this, as the prices won't change much and you will get one will probably be a far better phone.
If you wish to go for the iPhone 5 though I seriously suggest phoning one company and getting a contract offer, then phoning another and sying what the other offered - to try and reduce costs. If you are happy at O2, then as Luke said phone them up and say about your plans to get an iPhone - if they don't give you a decent deal, just say "It is fine, I will go to t-Mobile" - they will probably better their offer.

That is apparenty O2's best deal.

Find a decent deal elsewhere, then ring your mobile company up and hopefully they'll match that offer or even beat it!
-
If you ring up and say "I can get this deal with orange, blah blah i am strongly concidering leaving" most of the time they will offer you something decent. My uncles blackberry broke, he threatened to not upgrade and switch to t-mobile, they gave him an iphone 4 with 6 months left on his contract!
If you make a fuss you never know! :)

for the iPhone? By far the best network for the iPhone is 3.

All-you-can-eat Data

for £35 a month (£69 upfront) - with £110 cashback using Quidco.

vodafone, £35pm 600 minutes, 3000 texts, 500mb data - Iphone 4 16gb £FREE only on phones4u.co.uk
O2 WON'T be able to match that. You can't discount iPhone's nor 'do better deals' on them normally.
I suggest picking another device such as the galaxy S II or the lg optimus 2x, much better devices imho.

They pretty much have matched that just £2 more, unlimted texts instead of 3000 and o2 rather than vodafone :P I know who I'd choose
