Height in relationships

Seems like a stupid question, but the 'small teen, big world' programme on BBC 3 the other day, and my own current 'crush' got me thinking - how does height play a part in your relationships?

For me, I'm about 5'5, so fairly small, but not the smallest guy of my age I know, however, most girls are taller (partially I assume, due to their earlier pubity & thus growth spurt).

But what do you guys think? Obviously it's shallow and irrational to choose a boyfriend/girlfriend completely on height, but it does make you think. Most people generally have the view that the guy should be taller, but what do you think?

Yes, height plays a huge (pun not intended) part in relationships. Subconsciously most women will want a taller man with them as they naturally will feel protected where as if the women is bigger than the man, they will feel like they have to protect their partner, and men don't want to feel inferior to someone, and prefer to be the 'dominant' one, hence why men generally go for shorter women and women go for taller men.

To be honest, I don't think I'm going to find many girls taller than me, I'm 6"1, my girlfriend is tiny though, I think she is 5"4. But no, I personally wouldn't go out with a girl taller than me, call me shallow or what ever you want.

to me, when the girl is taller it just seems so wrong..

thankfully i'm short and don't find many 16+ males shorter than me, even 3 or 4 inches taller than me is shorter than the average uk male height so it's pretty important. 2 of my friends are a lot taller than their boyfriends and at first it was awkward then you just forget about it. who could blame them anyway, tall girls are hotttt! whenever i ask guys their height, it's usually around 6ft which confuses the hell outta me considering the average in all countries is less than 6ft yet everyone seems to be 6ft :l infact i just asked 6 guys one said 5'11, two said 6ft, one said 6ft1, one said 6ft 2 and the other said 'very'. my uncle was 6ft6 (measured) and that was the tallest i'd ever seen someone before but maybe cause i was shorter then. so i really couldn't guess my preferable height, tom cruise is like 5'7 n looks short as **** so maybe 6ft+ but shorter than my uncle..

I personally find it weird if a girl is taller than her boyfriend, a couple of inches is ok..but if they're taller than that its just weird imo.

well im 5ft so finding a boy 17+ shorter than me is basically impossible.

I'm not quite sure how tall I even am (LOL), but I'm about 2 inches taller than my girlfriend and that's the way I like it. I personally wouldn't want my girlfriend to be taller than me because it would just seem wrong. It's bad enough that she's taller than me wearing high-heels!

i'm 5'2/5'3ish so most men the age i'm interested in (19+) are above that height. i've never dated someone smaller than me. infact the 'shortest' guy i've been out with was my last ex and he was 5'10/11ish. i don't really take it into consideration because i'm short ANYWAY but i don't think i'd date a smaller guy than myself.

In my opinion guys are always supposed to be taller than the girl. I think it's strange if it's the other way around.
