i want hair like olly murs/joe mcelderry ?? [pics]

before i start i'm not a fan of either of these & it's just a coincidence they were both on xfactor last year together and they have similar hair

ok so the style is pretty much short back & sides with a little length on top, around 2-3 inches

my hair atm is quite close to the hair in my sig, undercut on one side with a fringe so it's quite a drastic change


dunno weather to go ahead with it or wimp out and just have a trim

I really like their hair, but does your lifestyle suit their hair?
The reason I ask that is people often get a hairstyle that they love, it's done and then they can't support it in their lifestyle.

For instance, a policewoman would look unprofessional with one side undercut.

a politician would look silly (as a male) with long, shaggy hair.

You have to get a style that suit's you, your time abilities (do you have time to LEARN how to properly blowdry then straighten your hair? blowdrying that style would take you at least fifteen minutes, ten minutes for finishing).

You should consider it fully.
and you'd need to grow your hair about two months to grow out your layers to a long enough rate to get that style, if it's like that disgusting style in your signature.

not a problem, i spend at least 30 mins on my hair a day

washing it, conditioning it, blow drying it, straightening it, styling it is all part of my routine when i'm going out somewhere

also i'm and art/fashion student so that isn't a problem at all


i haven't had my hair cut in abouttt 5 weeks so it's well on its way for a cut, i can hardly do anything with it atm apart from hairspring the roots for volume (that's how i know it needs cutting)

i'd wait three weeks then go get your haircut then, by the sounds of it you'll be fine.
when you're blowdrying it cut it into sections, start from your hairline, pull a 1.5cm section forward, put in a round brush and blowdry from the front!. continually pull up and then back. once you've done about 1.5 inchs, start from the crown, pull around a round brush and blowdry slightly up then forward. when you meet, ruffle with your fingers, working in a round motion... then taper the ends meeting both the front and back.

then straighten, from crown forward.
use a volumiser.
try this, it's not too strong, won't leave a gritty feeling, good for shine and actually protects and repairs.

finish with this but a SMALL amount. just to control the style, then finish with an extremely fine hairspray like elnett hairspray.

hairdressers is booked for wednesday haha, i think i'll be fine, the shortest layers is like 4 inches

It's coolio, I'm a trained hairdresser :rolleyes:, I love(d) it and still do a lot of it for my stepmum and helping my brother's partner learn cutting gents (hairdressers don't often learn men's hair, they need to do it as an extra depending on where they train).

Just remember and deep condition your hair about twice a month, it'll really help keep the style. If you keep blowdrying and straightening you'll weaken the structure and have to damage the hair MORE for a better effect - catch 22.

redken control mask is a fantastic product. it'd last for at least a year for your hair length and it's a good spend tbh.

i thought you were haha :P yeah i have a dove deep conditioning cream which i normally use when my hairs feeling a bit dryer than usual, works great!

u might wanna ask the hairdresser if it suits your head shape j/s
