What's your source for this, as many sites suggest that it means "Best wishes and Congratulations. Have a prosperous and good year." If you even search 'happy new year in chinese' in google many websites show that phrase

That basically means the same thing, I said roughly translated. I believe theres a chinese song about it or something. I forgot where I found it, i'll have another look.

It does almost seem a trick question/multiple answer question as another source I found says

Which suggests it means have a good (new year) but may it also be prosperous AND also Best wishes. Unfortunately, the answers are 3 seperate ones. You guys can try either, but I think it's the last one.
