What are you searching for when you get this error to show?

new posts but get it just by going to search.php on its own
and just found it happening on editthreads page

Based on what he's said I presume he's ignored a thread and, when he clicks new posts he gets that error, due to the ignored thread (or so he thinks). You could try and disable the plugin, to see if that does anything.
