If they're seperated, were they married & divorced?

Do you think this will impact on your relationships (perhaps doubt them working out)?

My mum and dad were never actually a couple, and my dad recently died. Not much of a loss though, I never actually knew him.

mine have been separated for 10 year now? they were actually on-off all throughout. they're still married though as it's easier for the mortgage i guess? them not working out doesn't make me not want to marry cause i do want to.
