UnNamed Story about war and what it can do.

Chapter One
There is one specific week I shall always remember. One week where my life changed, one week that made me think, about how lucky I am to be here, telling you my story.
Is was a Friday night, around five, it was already dark, as the autumn had come in, and the nights started getting colder. The year was 1939. Maggie had just celebrated her fourth birthday. I was freezing cold that night, my hair dirty and sticking up on end. Maggie crawled into my bed and kissed me goodnight
“Good night sister!” she said, with a smile on her face. And she waddled out of my bedroom, she was so funny and cute when she waddled.
Mother came in, she was quiet and pale, like a ghost or something, she sat on my bed, and I knew what it was,
“Grace, there’s a war coming, you know that don’t you.”
She paused, and looked down at my sheet,
“Grace, you have to understand, your father is going to be fighting in this war, and you’re old enough to understand that he might not come back”
I saw tears rolling down her cheeks, I looked up at her and nodded, she tried to hide her tears by looking away. I asked her if she had told Maggie. She shook her head,
“She’s too young to understand darling,”
She cupped my head in her hands, her hands where warm and soft, and she kissed me on the forehead. Then she left, as quiet as she had came.
I sat up on my bed, I could not sleep, I couldn’t picture a world without my father, I mean, he was so great, he even gave me my own bedroom, and I was the only girl out of my friends to not have to share a bed.
How I yearned to be young and little like Maggie, I don’t know how, but I managed to sleep. I woke up around six, it was still dark, I could here Maggie’s tiny feet pitter pattering around on the floorboards, and then it was quiet again, but then I could here my mother’s feet, and the stairs creaking as she walked down. I could here her sobbing. I couldn’t just sit there in bed, so I tiptoed downstairs and sat with mum.
“Grace, she said quietly “Me and maggs, we are going to Cornwall as evacuees, you have to come,”
I looked at the window,
“No,” I said
“I was born here, and I will die here, if that’s the case, I will not go, you cant make me, I will stay here, I have too many memories, here and im not going to leave.” I said sternly.
I could see mother was shocked, but she nodded her head slowly,
“I understand Grace, I Know you’ve been through a lot, but you have to come with me, this place is far too dangerous for a 12 year old little girl to stay on her own”
“IM NOT GOING, IM NOT! IM NOT GOING TO BE SEPERATED AGAIN”
I shouted at mother, I didn’t mean to, but I was very serious, and I was NOT going to leave. Next it was mother, who shouted,
“GRACE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW DANGEROUS A WAR IS, YOU HAVNT BEEN THROUGH ONE!”
“NEITHER HAVE YOU!” I yelled,
Mother’s face was red with anger. or maybe it was embarrassment by being shouted at by your own child, I couldn’t tell.
I stormed up the stairs and left mother standing there.
