I had an ingrowing toenail on both my left and right big toe. I made the infection worse by trying to sort it myself and picking at it, But anyway. You go to have surgery on it, It's classed as an operation but you are awake when they do it. Basically, They put two needles in each side of the nail to numb it, Then they use their tools to cut the nail so its straight. They then put some chemical down each side of it to stop the nail from regrowing back. The following 6 weeks I wasn't able to do P.E or any exercise on it. You will also need to buy a dressing and bathe it in salty water each day and redress it to stop it from getting infection.
But I'm glad I've had it done on both sides, They are painfull but it's such a relief when they are removed. It doesnt make them look weird after it has all healed and stuff. But dont be worried about it. If you haven't already go to you're doctors who will refer you to a Chiropadist. - Hope it helps and good luck :)
Im Haviung That done ^_^

AND HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET A MONTH OFF SCHOOL FOR HAVING AN INGROWN TOENAIL!!!
My nextdoor neighbour had a whole foot of ingrown toenails, She had left it for ages and then she had to get her toes cut off. Word of warning - Get it fixed asap. Its not a pretty sight seeing a foot without toes :8
My toes were all bandaged up and the bandages had to be changed everyday, plus I had to wear slippers and couldn't wear ordinary shoes.Quote:
