The legal age to have straight sex is 16, but the legal age to have gay/lesbian sex is actually 21. Do you think this is fair?

-shrug- I don't really know because I'm not gay.
Hi Liammm [:
& I dunno.
Dunno, no one abides by the sex rules anyway.
You don't need to be gay to know, I'm not gay; but I think it's really bad.
:o! How do you know it's me? <333Quote:

The consentual age of straight sex is 16, purely because that is when people are classed to be an adult and therefore are old and mature enough to deal with any consequences or reults from having sex, ie. pregnancy, std's.Quote:

By having straight sex at the age of 16, you can end up with a baby, whereas if you have homosexual sex, you can only get at the worst case scenario - an std.
However, you can still get std's through straight sex, therefore I fail to see where the whole point of it being about STD's is, as you still have just as much chance of catching one with the opposite sex, than that of which you do of the same.
Personally, I'm not gay but I do still feel it's quite out of order, and that all of us should be treated as equals. This worl is always going on about fairness, so I fail to understand how they allow hetrosexuals to have sex 5 years younger than homosexuals, for no real prupose apart from the fact that this world is still infact biased and discriminative.
I think It's a bit much for the government to expect hormonal teens to wait till they're as old as 21 before they have sex.
Lol exactly. The laws are even broke with hetrosexual intercourse, and that's only waiting for the age of 16 - so what's the chance of people waiting till their 21?Quote:

If you're old enough to have straight sex then you should be old enough to have gay sex. Is the age limit here 21 or is that only in America?
I'm quite certain it's UK. US laws change from state to state.Quote:

The people who set the age are obviously just trying to look concerned/good for the older public. They know damn right that the majority of people wont wait until the age of 21 before having intercourse, it's a fact. I definitely know I'm not waiting until I'm 21 before having it, it's ridiculous.
Hmm I think 18 is a decent age limit tbh
No there isn't.Quote:

It was just my opinion , I didn't ask for anyone to question it.
The whole prupose of a forum is to discuss issues. If you wish to take part in a discussion, you can't expect your opinion not to be challenged or had any comments made on it from anyone else.Quote:

No it is just the fact that maybe some people do not want people to comment on their opinions all the time.
A lot of people have sex to have babies, if they don't, then they should be smart enough to use a condom. I'm not denying the fact that straight couples can have bum and oral sex too, but straight couples are more likely to just have missionary sex as opposed to a gay couple who can obviously only do either of those two. There is obviously a higher risk of catching an STI from a homosexual than a heterosexual if you put it in proportion due to this.
very hawt bi dude tho ;]]] u still speak to adam ?Quote:

so we can all stop moanin now.
Yep, I haven't a clue where the author of this thread got this information from lol. Probably been taught outdated laws at school, or stumbled across an outdated TV show/website like I did the other week. You'd be amazed how outdated some schools are when it comes to Sex Ed, especially when they teach homosexuality - which is rare ¬_¬.
The BBC showed a show about teenage sex a few weeks back, which said the legal ages were 16 for heterosexual sex and 18 for homosexual sex.
Just been to their teen website, "Slink", and it states it's 16 for all relationships.

I still think in Jersey, which is classed as UK (I think), located near France, it's still 18 for homosexual sex though. It may be lowered soon though.Quote:
What are the rules?
• In England and Wales you have to be over 16 to have homosexual (gay) or heterosexual (straight) sex.
• In Northern Ireland you have to be 17 to have homosexual or heterosexual sex.
• ‘Sex’ means penetrative sex, oral sex or masturbating together.
masturbating together, hows that sex? lmao
It's a sexual practise.
If Kotu's post is wrong, I want to say this:
You have more chance of ripping your banjo through **** penetration than ******* penetration, if you were 16 and ripped your banjo, or 21 and ripped it, when are you going to panic more? Of course, if a gay person abided by the laws and didn't have sex until he was 21, he'd still have no experience and would probably still panic as much as a 16 year old. Actually, you'd probably panic just the same at any age, it's meant to be pretty scary... So this post is useless.. I want to post it anyway, to show my track of thoughts :)
Ostinato (Forum Moderator) - Please don't avoid the filter.
What does ripping your "banjo", as you so nicely put it, have to do with consemating your relationship? If you take the correct precautions you won't go ripping your "banjo" anyway. Pretty much in the same way as if you take the right steps, you won't fall pregnant.
In a straight sexual relationship you can injour yourself, contract disease, and what not it's just not as publicised and taboo compared to when it's involving a homosexual sexual relationship.
Your initial thoughts are like saying, "Oh, during sex theres a chance you could contract aids. So let's not have sex in a relationship until we're 21 because we'll panic less."
You're gonna panic either way, and either way people deserve the right despite their sexual preferences to consemate their relationships or fullfill their sexual needs. The age needs to be universial within each country.
In the UK at least, the universal age of consent despite sexual orientation is 16. I think the BBC would keep their health pages up to date as their a reliable and trustworthy source.
Bum sex is more physically damaging (or can be I should say) than normal sex. Having done both myself (but with a woman) I can say that neither have actually caused a problem such as "ripping the banjo", but I understand that it can quite easily. The muscles in the back passage are damaged more easily, as they weren't technically made for such activity.
Needless to say, in my experience it's certainly been a case of "One up the bum, no harm done".
i've once done something with a 20 year old when i was drunk x[ So WHO CARES
Taking your age into consideration that's kind of sickening.Quote:
