I'm always safe so I use a condom, although my fiancee is pregnant now but I'm happy it was planned :) But yes do use a condom.
It's always safe to use a condom, not only to keep both you and your girlfriend safe from contracting STD's or getting pregnant, but to give you both peace of mind knowing you have that extra bit of protection.
I always use one, and advise you do to.

And alos to herman - its not a silly question at all and the answer i am going to give is that there are diffrent STD's and if your trying for a baby then have yourself and your partner checked for them at your doctors he/she will sort something out once hearing the results the doctor will give you information as from what to do from this point if the STD can be removed with Antibiotics as some can then the doctor will give that and once its cleard if the STD is more serious then the docotor may want to keep testing you and sort something out and maybe you will be able to try after your all clear if not then there is adoption.
