Do you use "Gay" as an insult?

Hey.
Righteos I'm gay and I do use gay as an insult, and when I do my friends and teachers who know I'm gay act like I've commited murder by saying "This is so gay" or something. lol :(

So, do you use Gay as an insult? :P

i'd have to say it's like 50/50.
i'm trying to cut down on saying it.
because in all terms, it really means "homosexual", and an icecream flavour can't be homosexual now can it..:rolleyes:

nope, but it don't bother me most of the time when people say it.

Not really as an insult, but when something goes wrong, or someone tells me something bad, I might say "oh that's gay".

Yeah I do.
I said it on skype infront of Adrian who was gay and I felt bad.

Only towards objects, not really people. Likes if I fail a mission on a game or something.

Exactly what I do. I often call my friends gay... though.

I rarely say it, when i do, its towards an object or event, like if something was cancelled i'd say "Oh that's gay" or something. Sometimes i'd jokely say someone was gay.

But, being gay myself, when people call it me, i just agree with them, because i am.

In school people always say someone is gay - "Get off me you gay mong".
And i say it to events and whatever, like if a footy match is cancelled - "*Tuts* How gay...?"

I sometimes use it as an insult but not as much as i used to.

I'm straight and I don't use it.

I think it's a really petty insult, and just makes the person using it look really immature like their back in primary school and it's the only naughty word they know.

I knew the 'B' word at primary school :D me and my friend use to whisper it to each other :D:D and be like :o:o and on-topic I may say stuff like ''Thats gay!'' but I don't like use it to insult someone.

Nope, I normally say other words. Gay just means homosexual or happy to me. Gay as an insult makes no sense, like when people use the F word etc.

Not anymore I used to say it in like year 7 but not now I remember once someone shouted '[INSERT NAME HERE] is gay' at school and the teacher said ' do you use gay as an insult because you think your better than gay people?' the dude then went all red it was funny

Where most peopl say "ahhh that's gay" I tend to say "ahhh that sucks."

i try not to, but when im talking to some people i will, just like saying 'omg thats gay'. but i don't use it as a proper insult, like i wouldn't say to someone who i know is gay 'omg you gay'.

You clearly don't lol. Otherwise you wouldn't have the thread title as " Do you use "Gay" as an insult?" If you meant it in the context of "Ahh, that's gay!" then the title would be different, as I don't see how saying something like that is an insult - it's mearely a term people use to describe something.

Simiarly, I wouldn't saying saying "Thats [the s word]" is an insult - it's just a vulgar word to express their dissapointment etc.

Either way, no - I do not use it.

Well let people say what they want. if they want to say somthing stuped like "OMG this work is so gay" then let them. its not offending me. anyway it doesnt make sence.

however, *hyperthetical i dont mean this*
if someone was to say
"OMG this work is so black" or somthing racist like that, things will be so different like, people will mind that they said that and stuff...

Nah, I use other words, like the f word etc.

When im on habbo or somthing I say Ghay, it's not the same as gay. But sometimes when like my Tv stops working I say "Thats gay." But im pritty sure my TV isn't homosexual.

yeah. i can't help it, i've been saying it too long. i have gay friends tho and they don't mind at all, so i don't see why i should stop saying it really.

Gay origionally meant happy...
With slang people tend to sop the meaning of words so words that actually meant one thing origionally mean the opposite for instance

Wicked - Good
Cool - Good
Sick - Good etc.

Gay was a word adopted by the Homosexual comunity so i dont know how it can really be an insult

I used to, when I didn't actually know any gay/bi-sexuals, but now I don't, don't wanna insult them [some are easy going on it, some aren't] plus also in sounds stupid to call something like my homework gay, as it is inanimate and can't have sex

sometimes. but when i use it no one really gets insulted by it, so its not an insult?! if im messing about with my mates i'll be like omg you're well gay. no one gets offended by it.

Lots of people use the term 'gay' in a negative term, i think a lot of gay people use the term themselves nowadays, and i think very few would be offended, i ttry to avoid saying it, but have found myself saying it on a few occasions, i think it's just the people we mix with and the fact it has became such a commonly used phrase.
