Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted for the first time the club are interested in signing Marcos Senna from Villarreal.
Senna, 30, has been linked with a £3.4m move to United and Ferguson appears to be closing in the Spain international.

The other 3 would be good signings, minus Downing, they don't need him in midfield.

Senna = Two Old -- Hargreaves = Price is closer to 20m and he is overated along with downing. Larsson = Proven and will be a decent loan signing

I agree with Tom and Eckuii about Downing. He's seriously over-rated. There was so much hype and media attention surrounding him (oh he's gonna be the solution to England's problems on the left, etc etc)...I highly doubt Sir Alex will be looking at him. We all know about Larrson. But about Gareth Bale...I know Arsene payed stupid money for Walcott but I doubt United will bid £7m for a 17 year old. Bale's a very bright prospect and has shown great potential for Southampton but I'm not too sure he's ready for the step up yet. If that transfer goes through for that ridiculous amount of money, the Saints are bloody lucky, producing two youngsters, going for a total of £19 million in two successive seasons! Home grown talent like that doesn't come cheap, y'know :p
I don't rate Downing at all but I think Hargreaves would be a good signing.

why would he sign tevez? he was a target for them in summer, but i assumed that after tevez's disatrous 5 months in english football @ west ham that man united wouldn't want him.
the larsson thing is true, but i doubt they will/need to sign anyone else.

how the hell can you call henrik larsson overated? for a start he isn't even rated that highly anymore, and secondly he's proven to be a great player. he's won the champions league, he holds the record for the most ever SPL goals (overall and for one season) and he's all round amazing.

Im going to be unpopular saying this but i think as i have a soft side for man u that they should sign downing for the future but 5 million should be alright. Okay hes not international standard especially with the choices england have but players like richardson and downing can only get better and are very young. I believe that if the worst comes to the worst they have lost 5 mil plus wages but u know Glazers a rich man dont u think? Its a gamble like with most young players but i think he may pay off. Also comments about carrick and hargreaves - they couldnt play well together as they are both defensive midfielders. Also u can hardly kick scholes out on the form hes on lately
