I've always wondered this.
Google doesn't give me a decent enough answer.
its made out of copper, so metal.
its made of copper.
wikipedia should say.
metal,if you ever watched An american tale (about mice) the first film it shows you it being made.
The statue is made of pure copper on a framework of steel (originally puddled iron) with the exception of the flame of the torch, which is coated in gold leaf.
Copper and nickle. It kinda looks like stone though.
It was given to America by another country
I am not sure who but maybe it was the French?
I could be wrong
and yes it is made out of copper.
When it was trasnported to America, it got cut up into bits then put back together
Copper changes colour in time, therefore the turquoise colour. It woudn't have taken that long for it to change colour.
i always thought it was stone :p
The pedestal is brick and stone, but the statue itself is Copper. It was individually constructed in France, then shipped to America and re-esembled there.
I've been in it =]
Yep like loads of others have said its made of copper however it spent a long time inside its boxes because for some reason the Americans didn't want to put it up. This made the french demand they send the statue back .... I swear the Americans put it up quicker than you can say Liberty !
