bumping old threads

what is classed as bumpin old threads?
cos i replied to my thread that was made 12-01-07 and the last reply before mine was 23-01-07 thats 10 days? and i get warning/infraction
o nd to make it clear the reply before mine was by someone else

i know that now.. im on 1 infraction & 1 warning so i assumed i got 1 for avoiding filter and another for bumping an old thread, i didnt realize i had an infraction before

i completely disagree with the bumping rule.

first of all - it's not made clear what a 'bump' is. how old does the thread have to be for it to be classed as a 'bump'?

secondly - what's wrong with it? you get people making new threads saying like "this has been made before, but i'm not allowed to bump'. i'm sure that a forum full of the same threads is more of a problem than someone giving life to a thread that hasn't been posted in for a few months.

Also, what if it is a sticky that hasn't been posted in for months? Do we still get infracted?
