No, it doesnt really harm anyone.
If you are uncomfortable about giving away your location, you can always just say what country your in, if they ask for further details just say, 'you don't need to know', I doubt someone would be able to track you down with a peice of information like '14/f/uk'.

Well, lets just say that the paedophile has gotten your asl. He can then build up a relationship with you, to get you trusting him more. Then he'll start asking you more personal details. Then he'll probably ask you to meet up. But that's drastic.
Wouldn't they befriend them more than just ask asl? I really don't see the point. You've been warned many times not to meet people on the internet. You somehow deserve it if you do tell.
